Have tried using my microphone, testing it with Skype, which does not hear
my voice, but am unable to get it working? When I go into Device Manager,
it appears to be working properly. It is not muted and the volume is full
on. I am beginning to think my Sound card is not working or the socket is
faulty, but unable to determine if this is the case? Can anyone help me
please? Heather

What in the world is "skype"....Try recording to xps sound recorder,or
download
WM encoder, once ready to record, double click the speaker by the
clock,options,
properties, set to record, chk the mic box, record. Also, you might 1st try low
recording levels, max is a bit much on playback....

Andrew,

Skype is an online phone link, able to talk to someone on ones address list,
also with Skype, in any country through it, for free.
Anyway I cannot find my sound recorder on my Win XP SP2 at all, I know it
should be in my programs > accessories > entertainment, but it is not shown
here at all. I have tried testing my voice using the wizard when in sounds &
audio devices, but cannot get it to hear my voice at all. I'm having the
chap who installed my computer to install a new sound card, as he thinks it
is faulty. I feel I have tried all I can to get it working, even different
recording levels. So thanks for trying to help. Heather
