unable to use file "save as" to server

I have a user who is unable to use the file save as
feature of excel, although powerpoint and work are now
problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program,
performed all updates and other users with the same acces
press prvileges are able to do a "save as" in Excel. Any
thoughts? she can save locally and move up, but that is
not a long term solution of course. The original excel
file came from a mac office 98.
 
Just as an idea to help narrow it down, I would have her log in on a
known good machine to see if she had the same problem there, and have
another person who doesn't have that problem log in on her machine to
see if they had the same problem there. That might help clarify
whether it's a permissions problem or a machine configuration problem.

If you have the ability to create accounts, you might want to create a
new test login account for her and have her test that on the problem
machine.

You mentioned that you uninstalled and reinstalled, but Office's
uninstall is not thorough. There are KB articles for each version
detailing manual steps to thoroughly clean up after an uninstall.
(Then, reinstall it, and then you'd really have a fresh install.) It
isn't unusual for a manual, thorough uninstall to fix a problem that
wasn't fixed by a normal uninstall.
