unable to update any kind of anivirus

I am in a serious problem.I am using a core2duo 1.86 Ghz prossesor and intel 965 motherboard.My operating system is windows xp sp2.I can not update any type of anti virus in my pc.I have formated hard drive several times.Last time I rowed the hard disk and create new partition.but after 80% update (kasper) it shows update error.Next time I install bitfifender 10 and got same result.There is no restriction on my network to auto update.Plz resque me from this serious error if any one knows.
