Hello,
This is *completely* frustrating me. I am trying to
restore a file repository for a program (specifically,
the Mozillan browser/email client), from a CD. I am able
to copy the files from the CD to the location they are
supposed to be in, namely:
c:\Documents and Settings\jeff\Application
Data\Mozilla\Profiles\Default User
The problem is, all the directories and files in the
hierarchy are set to read-only. Ok, so I went through
trying to unset read-only. (The files have to be writable
for Mozilla to work properly).
Unfortunately, WinXP *INSISTS* on constantly re-setting
the file permissions to read-only. Every time I unset
read-only from one of the directories or files, and then
go back into the properties, they are set to read-only
again.
WTH is going on? Why is Windows doing this to me? How can
I unset the read-only bits on those files?
