Unable to Uninstall Software

I have a HP computer running Windows XP and when I go to the control
panel and try to uninstall software using the add or remove programs,
there are only a few programs that have the change/remove program
button and they are all recently installed programs. What do I do?

You may need to check the installed programs while in an
"administrator" type account. Limited user accounts do not normally
let programs to be un-installed.
