We've changed printers at the office and we're unable to
uninstall the old one from all the systems.

All the workstation are in Windows 2000 SP4 and we log as
Administrator (without password).

When we try to remove the old one we receive something
like this :
Unable to uninstall the printer due to restriction on
this computer. Contact your Administrator.

We log as administrator so why this error message ???

Thanks for helping,

Hi,
Please make sure that you have logged in with all
admin rights. (lusrmgr.msc).

Also make sure that gpedit.msc has no specific policy for
un-installing the printer.
If nothing works, then open regedit then search for exact
printer name, and delete it. then clean the folder 2/3
under spool.

HTH,

There is a policy setting that will cause this. It's off by default so this
may have been intentional pushed to the machine.

Anyway
gpedit.msc
User Configuration
Administrative templates
Control Panel
Printers
Disable deletion of printers (default is unconfigured)
