Greetings all,
I’m using a Toshiba p25 with XP Home.

"Connecting a ’belkin G usb network adapter’ via a 5m repeater cable
(bad reception) to my laptop. sometimes it works and other times the
computer does not reconize its connected. while trying to solve the
problem I noticed under ’show hidden devices’ in the device manager
that the adapter is listed 12 times (#1 to #12) and when i try to
uninstall the little buggers i get the message ’failed to uninstall
the device. the device may be required to reboot the computer". :?:

"Obviously the computer dont need the network adapter to reboot so I
tried to uninstall in safe mode and with my anti virus off".

"I still haven’t got a working network adapter or uninstalled the
list of 12 exactly the same devices. and now after removing the driver
through the ’add and remove programs’ my computer will not re-install
the driver from the cd-rom".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings all,
Well after much fooling around, this is the way I did it!

Unplug ALL USB devices.
Open Device Manager.
View, Show Hidden Devices.
Uninstall all devices under USB Controllers.
Uninstall all devices under Storage Volumes. Say no to any reboot
prompts until
you are finished. Also, if a Storage Volume doesn’t uninstall, ignore
it and
move to the next one.
If you have a yellow ? with unknown devices, uninstall all of the
entries there as well.

When this is done, reboot TWICE.
Reconnect the USB devices and see if they’re recognized properly.

Thanks to all who at least looked at my post.
Best regards,
