Have a PC here that recently had a virus and spyware infection, although
these have now been removed we cannot turn on the windows firewall. Have
tried resetting the Winsock chain but it has made no difference, I have
noticed tho that if I go to control panel/administrative tools\windows
firewall/Internet connection sharing is missing so this would appear to be
why we have the problem. Is it possible to reinstall these items? @Is this
maybe a registryproblem?

Also tried system restore tobring it back but with no luck - any assistance
appreciated thank you

You could try resetting the Windows XP firewall settings..

START button --> RUN --> NETSH FIREWALL RESET --> OK.

Reboot for good measure.

Hello .

The malware has killed the Windows Firewall .

Although you believe the malware has been removed , I would suggest you
check once again . I will post you instructions how to restore Windows
Firewall however they will not work if there is still any active malicious
software .

Read the check instructions:
http://pandaman.my.contact.bg/check.htm

If any malware is found , run these instructions to remove them :
http://pandaman.my.contact.bg/Gen_MRI.htm

Then read the info in these two links and restore WF . Read and perform the
instructions VERY PRECISELY , write the command correctly

Good luck !

To reinstate the Windows Firewall service (SP2 only), use the
sharedaccess.reg file here.
