Unable to Transfer Photos from Digital Camera

I have Nikon Coolpix PTP type Camera which I purchased recently.I have
installed the required s/w on my Win XP SP3 PC and also the ptp driver which
came along with the CD,but I am unable to transfer my photos from camera to
PC using either nikon transfer or windows photo gallery.

It says ---

Import Photos and Videos
---------------------------
No photos or videos were found on this device
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

The autoplay popup is empty for which I am least bothered but I am unable to
transfer my 40 pics and 2 videos.I donot want to spend any more on any card
reader or so.

Please tell how do I get this done.

Yeah,I did check on Win Home edition and vista,they are working fine but on
my my xp sp3.I also uninstalled nikon s/w but not helped.

Any one has an answer??

pls help!!!
