Unable to synchronise my Access database

Several months ago I created a new briefcase on my laptop and put a copy of
my database there, so I could use it away from my PC. I was able to sync
both without problems (over a LAN). However, for some reason, now when I
try to sync from my laptop, I get a message telling me I don't have the
necessary permission to read the file (or the database is being used by
someone else, but I know that is not the case).

One other thing. I converted the database from Office 2000 format to 2003
since. Did I do wrong?

Any ideas on how I can sort this problem out?

Thanks in advance, John WEC

Hi John,

You might try posting in the replication newsgroup.
The replication "Gurus" tend to hang out there and
could probably provide better help. Even though
this *seems* to also be a security issue, they may
be able to point you in the right direction.

microsoft.public.access.replication

This link may be able to help, but I am not sure:

Replication is not my area of expertise.
Good luck,

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I didn't know there was a
'replication' newsgroup. I'll head over there and take a look.

However, just for your info, I was reading some of the other postings, and
saw one that suggested to someone else they create a new database, and import
all the tables, etc., to that one. I tried that, deleted my old database,
created a new replica from the new database, and hey presto, I'm up and
running again! I bet it didn't take me more than ten minutes!

Thanks again, and good luck!

Hi John,

Glad you seem to have reached a solution to your issue!
I don't believe I helped much, but thank you anyway.
:-)
