Hi,
I have Windows XP with SP2 (new computer with oem install). However when i
try to run some programs (seems mainly to be various setup.exe files) they
won't start. If i double-click the file in explorer i briefly get an
hourglass but nothing else happens. If i check task-manager the program is
definately not running.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Tom

no advice from all you experts out there then?

Setup programs will not run if they think an instance of same is already
running. Did you try a power off (!=reboot)?

Hi,
I have the same problem since I installed SP2 on a PC running XP
professional. Befor that all proghrams worked fine after Installing SP2 a
*.exe file (old windows 3.1 program) does not run any more.
Then I tryed to re install the program but setup.exe does not run also ( I
just get an hourgalss for 2 sec and then nothing happens).

I have the same problem with a system optimizer I bought. DL is good and
works on other computers. It never launches after install. I am going crazy
trying to fix it. Can anyone save my sanity?
