I have been trying to got an answer to the problem of the
Sound Recorder from my computer manufacturer, (Dell) for
2 weeks. Their tech support not only didn't find an
answer, they completely removed my cable install.
I am trying to sing over the music file I put into the
Sound Recorder. I receive an error saying not enough
memory..I have closed all other open files & removed some
which were large. I have 256 megs, Pentium 4 processor. I
tis a Dell Dimension 4300S with a 3 year service
contract. I found out by finagetting tech support in
Idaho, no one comes out unless there is something broken.
Most of all their tech support is in Israel or
Indonesia...
If anyone can offer a solution, I would be grateful...

Hello,
I'd suggest that you use another application for something like this as Sound Recorder isn't really that great for multi-track recording.
http://www.soundforge.com/products/default.asp you can find some excellent (albeit $) programs there. Or there's also Cakewalk which can be found here http://www.cakewalk.com/
Hope that helps a bit. There are a couple of other good and possibly free apps out there that will be able to help you. I can't recommend any off hand since the one I used to use is no longer available.

Audacity may allow you to add a vocal track to an existing WAV file. Get it
