unable to sign into yahoo messenger, msn after wireless driver upgrade

Hello,

I recently upgraded my Intel 2915 abg drivers to the latest version
after having some connectivity problems with the earlier version. This
time around the connection is fine but I cannot sign into yahoo, msn,
p2p software. Im sure its got something to do with the new drivers as
these programs used to work fine with the previous drivers. It just
says 'signing' and nothing happens. Anybody knows why is it happening ?

Thanks

Can you browse the internet? If so, probably is not the driver, but the
firewall..

I can browse the net fine. There was always firewall on my laptop but i
never had this problem . I did try disabling the firewall but still
cant sign in. can the drivers mess up the firewall settings ?

No, the driver didn't mess up your firewall. To be sure, turn off your
firewall and try again....Don't forget to turn it on again when you finish.
;)
Did you change anything else except the driver? Make sure you have no
proxies enable for messenger software. You might need to clear out your DNS
cache (open the command prompt and type in the following: ipconfig
/flushdns). After that, try it again. Also scan your computer for spyware.

Tried everything, but nothing works. I have no spware, virus, malaware
and disabling the firewall does not work too. I cannot flush DNS cache
as it does not even show me the IP address (with ipconfig), just gives
a blinking cursor though I can browse the net fine. One more thing is I
cannot connect to any other network other than my neighbor's unsecured
network. My own wireless network fails to connect ! Shutdown process
takes five mintutes to complete and the user field is blank in the
processes tab of the task manager (doesnt even show the SYSTEM, forget
my name !) Last week I accidently let my battery die down and since
then Im having plethora of problems, do not know whether it's related
but thought you would like to know. I did not change anything else,
just happened all of a sudden.
