Unable to shut down Windows XP Pro

Hello all.
Lately I've been unable to download my PC.
A window pops up asking if I would like to terminate CRTCClient.exe
I am not able to find this anywhere and when I click on End Now, nothing
happens.
I have to manually turn off the power source.
Any ideas of why this might be happening?

Also, once I was able to shut down when I disabled my Network
connection(Local Area Connection).
I am using MN-500 with the latest firmware update.
All windows updates are up to date, as well as Norton 2004.
I have ran the Win32.MMail.A worm removal tool as well to be on the safe
side.
Please help me out on this.

Some users claim this has to do with ATI catalyst drivers. Good luck,

I know this is windows me case and yours are windows xp, but Try update video driver.
and then follow this article.

also check system with windows system file checker

and check your event viewr to find if you have any error in it.

I dont' have kazaa on this pc .. I have never updated my drivers. Is there
any other help available on this?
I'd greatly appreciate it.

I re-applied SP1a for winxp and all is well now.
