I have two networked win xp home edition pcs via router. I'd like to share
documents from both pcs. For some reason the pc is unable to view each other
therefore I am unable to share documents. I don't know whether zone alarm
pro has anything to do with this. Can someone offer any solution?

It could, in Zone alarm add the IP's of each computer to the trust list,
it's somewhere under advanced settings. Not sure where it's been ages since
I used Zone Alarm. You can add the individual IP's or a range of IP's.
Also drag the local network slider to the off or nearly off position.

I had already added the IP address of the other pc in the trusted zone
respectively.

The slider on the Trusted zone was left at the middle position.

With above, I was not able to see/share contents of the other PC.

Are both computers in the same workgroup? Have you setup an identical
userid / password on both?

Do you have the built-in XP firewall turned on also if so turn it off.
In a small peer to peer network you also need to turn on NetBIOS over TCP/IP
on the Wins configuration tab of TCP/IP properties.
Then set a folder to share on both machines and set the sharing properties
of these folders.
Both machines need to have the same workgroup name.

Let me investigate, thank you.

Make sure File Sharing is turned on and Internet Connection Sharing Firewall
is not turned on for your LAN. I've found that it interferes with file
sharing on a LAN.

Just make sure there is no broadband connection on this same LAN card, or
you may be leaving your files to be compromised.
