Unable to setup for network printer

Add Printer Wizard fails to detect a printer attached to a pc in p_to_p
network. I attempted to specify the path to the printer while using Add
Printer Wizard but the status of Printer Information showed "Document
waiting" and stayed this way and the installation process went any
further The shared printer can be seen in My Network Places. This
printer was once installed before but quits working so instead of
trouble-shooting I just uninatalled it and attempted to reinstall it.
The printer works when used directly from its host pc.

I have found that there is no problem installing a printer attached to
another pc in the network.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Correction:

"the installation process went any further" should read "the installation
process did not advance any further".
