I can't locate the file fxsap1.dll to set up fax capabilities. Windows XP
was installed on my computer at purchase and there appears to be so such
file on the recovery discs. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Janet,

It's fxsapi.dll ("i", not "1"), and you will likely find an I386 folder is
already on your hard drive. The one you want will likely be under
C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\I386. It needs to be copied into the
C:\Windows\system32 folder.

It is fxsapi.dll not fxsap1.dll

fxsapi.dll is Microsoft Fax API Support DLL

Look in %windir%\system32\dllcache or C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache

It's also on the XP CD in the I386 folder, listed as FXSAPI.DL_

[[Run the FAX installation until it says it needs fxsapi.dll
Place your Windows XP Home Edition in your CD drive or go to the partition.
Use Windows Explorer to show folders and files
open the folder i\386, there you will find the necessary file, titled
FXSAPI.DL_, double click on FXSAPI.DL_, installation should finish
Hope this helps ]]

I appreciate all the help. Unfortunately it still isn't working. I've
checked the i386 folder no fxsap1.dll or fxsap1.dll in there. Checked driver
cashe\SP2 not in there either. Did a search of all files and folders, came
up with nothing. XP was factory installed all I have are recovery discs and
I searched each of those with no luck

The file name is fxsapi.dll *not* fxsap1.dll

There is *no* file with the name fxsap1.dll and you are *never* going to
find a file with the name fxsap1.dll.

fxsapi.dll is what you're looking for.
