I am trying to set up my Windows live mail on my computer but when I go to
type in my email address (@hotmail.com) it keeps telling me that it no longer
accepts this. I click to the link to resolve the issues and it lets me to
download windows live mail. Which what I already have. I am so very confused.
Can anyone help? Thanks

Windows Mail doesn't support HTTP mail, which for a long time was the
only allowed access method for free Hotmail accounts.

In February 2009, long after Windows Mail was finalized, Microsoft
enabled POP access for free Hotmail/Live/MSN accounts.
Follow the settings given here:
http://mailcall.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!CC9301187A51FE33!49799.entry
Use port 587 rather than port 25 for the SMTP server.

Although it accepts the newer Live.com addresses, the Windows Mail
account setup wizard is hard-coded to reject Hotmail and MSN addresses.
To get around that, when you enter your Hotmail/MSN email address initially,
use a fake one, such as (e-mail address removed). After the account setup is complete,
go back and correct your email address.

You are trying to set up Windows Mail (not Live), which won't let you enter
a Hotmail address.
You need to install Windows Live Mail from the wlsetup-web installer, then
open Windows Live Mail, not Windows Mail.
