I have just set up my new pc running windows mail with macafee security. I
have set up my mail account correctly and double checked this several times.
When i go to send mail macafee security says that email connection is lost,
confirm internet connection and resend. My internet connection is fine so
what could be the problem?

If you are still getting the message from McAfee then you didn't get rid of
it.

Otherwise, remove your mail account and close and reopen WinMail and add it
back again and then try it again.

I have the same issue. First it started when trying to send to contact
groups. Now there are several email addresses I'm unable to send to -- some
email addresses I can send to. I've presumably disabled McAfee scanning on
outgoing messages. I've deleted and readded my email account. I still get
the macafee security message that says: email connection is lost, confirm
internet connection and resend.

Completely uninstall McAfee. Get a free AV program such as
Avast or AVG, but be sure to configure for no email scanning,
incoming or outgoing.

Thanks for the advice. In a nice bit of irony, I received an email today
from McAfee telling me my temporary subscription would expire soon -- McAfee
flagged it as Junk Mail. :-)

If you get an error message, always include it verbatim.

i'm haveing trouble with my email setup...i did everything it said, but it
keeps giving me an error msg...i dont know what to do.
HELP!!

I have the same exact problem and I'm not running McAfee. This Vista appears
to have bugs in it. Microsoft needs some competition.

Does anyone know the solution to "cannot send email". The ironic part is
that it was working fine and I never changed anything. It just started
hitting me with this "Windows Security" message asking me for my password.
I'm frustrated.

Genove,

I and several other people have had the same problem. Go to

www.oehelp.com/wmutil

and download Steve's utility (follow Steve's directions to save to your
desktop). Then use the utility (after unzipping) to compact your e-mail and
the problem will go away. Then, in the future, compact your e-mail every
time the dialog box appears asking if you want to compact your e-mail.

Good luck.
