unable to send mail

Hi,

we have two server in different location with different mail server
1) Exchange 2000 standard with sp3 (abc.com)
2) Visnetic mail server (abc.com.cn)

Exchange 2000 server placed in singapore:- abc.com.sg
Visnetic mail server placed in china :- abc.com.cn


Both server was working fine for all domain name resolution in the world
expect abc.com.sg.

Issue :- Unable to send mail from singapore to china ( abc.com.sg to
abc.com.cn) This problem arises from last week untill that it's working
fine.

Tracert and ping, telnet to both server working fine.

NDR report from exchange :- Could not deliver the message in the time limit
specified. please retry or
contact administrator. <mail.mydomain.com #4.4.7>

Event viewer error message.

Type warning
category :- Connection manager
Event ID:- 4000
Description:-
Message deliver to remote domain "abc.com.cn" failed for the following
reason: The connection was dropped by the remote host."

Hope you can resolve this problem.

I would suspect either no reverse lookup on your Exchange servers IP address
you should check the logs on the VisNetic mail server and the IP your
exchange server is on for being on an open relay list, if you have open
relay detection enabled on the VisNetic mail server. This should show up in
the server log on the VisNetic mail server
 
Verify that each side can resolve the MX record for the other domain. Then make sure that the name the MX record returns is also resolvable to the IP address
of the SMTP server for that domain. If that all works, the problem isn't DNS and you may want to pose this question in the MAIL newsgroups.
