system is w2000 professional, acrobat 5. I go to a site
that has pdf files.i click on them and I get a white
screen with a small box in upper left corner with three
symbols in it.
I can see the file only if i right click, save as, wait
for the download and then click on acrobat.

It seems that acrobat does not open in IE

Any thoughts. I have an xp home system on the same network
with same version of acrobat and it works fine. Go figure.

thanks

I am using IE 6.0 & Adobe Reader 6.0. Since upgrading to
Windows XP-HE, I am unable to get Adobe to open
automatically in IE to read .pdf's. Have used the work-
around you describe, but find and easier one is to simply
have adobe open on my taskbar. The .pdf then seems to
load & open OK.

Hi Bill,

Old versions of Acrobat Reader had some compatibility issues with IE. Newer
versions should work just fine.
Try going to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, removing Adobe Acrobat
Reader, and then installing the latest version from http://www.acrobat.com
