The server is a W2k SP4 server, ip address is fixed 192.168.0.10,computer
name is MAX and its a domain controller. I can ping it from my workstation
which is at 192.168.0.163 computer name WINXP1. I can see the computer name
in my network places in the explorer in WINXP1. I can ping 192.168.0.10 OK.
But when I select the computer in Windows explorer I get the hourglass and
the attached error message saying it is not accessible and that the system
detected a possible attempt to compromise security. This problem started
happening after I had changed my fixed Ip address range on my Lan computers
from 192.168.1.xxx to 192.168.0.xxx leaving all other settings untouched.

I've been trying to find a fix for three days but can't find anything to use
to try to find what could be wrong. I can Ping Max and the DNs resolves OK
to 192.168.0.10.

If I try to use the windows explorer on max to view the disk contents of
WINXP! I get an error message, \\WINXP1\ is not accessible. The logon
account name is incorrect. I ge the same when trying to use the explorer to
see any other networked computer

Can anyone tell me how to get my network back between my computers. I can
connect to the sql server on MAX via an ODBC data source on WinXp1 if I use
username and password in the connection string but not if I use integrated
network security. It would seem that changing the Ip addresses of the
computers has had an impact on logins accros the network.

However I have no problem using the browser to connect to the net, nor do I
have any problems sending or receiving e-mail via my external ISP account.

Thanks for any help
Bob

My first inclination is that there are old DNS records that need to be
deleted...

I would recommend you capture the network traffic from both ends of the
conversation using Netmon or Ethereal. Something about the error message
about compromising security that is making me think there is something
mismatched with Kerberos but it's just a tickle in the back of my head,
nothing strong to go on yet...

If you need help capturing traffic or want help analyzing it offline let me
know.
