I am unable to search from my address bar. I have been
told that it is a spyware or parasite problem. I have
already used Ada-ware and Spybot S&D but I still have the
same problem.

Any other ideas how I can fix this?

If you don't show any IE 'helpers' using ad-aware then it's most likely that
something's just left your IE settings changed.

Open IE, go Tools->Internet Options->Advanced tab
Scroll down to 'Search from the address bar'
make sure the functionality you want is the one checked, then hit OK.

I checked the IE settings and it is checked to display
results. I'm at a lost as to what else could be the
problem.

Removing any local 'hosts' files (from your WINNT\system32\drivers\etc
folder) can help, if it's been hijacked it can end up redirecting the
ieautosearch address elsewhere. Back them up just in case your system uses
them...
Failing that, it's down to checking your registry
(HKLM_>software_>Microsoft_>Internet Explorer_>Main and _>Search to make
sure the search URLs are still valid, but there's no obvious KB for the
correct ones so if you're not up to comparing them with another machine,
then I'd suggest uninstalling IE6 (it'll roll back to 5) then re-installing
it. Should rebuild the registry tree if it's been corrupted.
