unable to save as .pps (Slide show)

I recently received a MS Word doc from a friend and he is evidently using a
newer version of Office than I (mine 2003-his 2007). So, then it tells me
there is an update to allow me to open newer versions with mine. I downloaded
the fix and was able to open the Word doc.

***Now my problem is that I am trying to create a Power Point presentation
and save it as a slide show (.pps), but it is not an option in the pulldown
when I try to save as!!!

HELP!!!!
 
Scroll further down. Look for PowerPoint 97-2003 Show (*.pps).
