Dear All,
I recently uninstalled my flight simulator x, as I only had a very small
hard drive at the time. Now that I have a larger hard drive, I have backed up
my original c drive, and transferred everything to my new hard drive.
Although I am able to install the flight simulator, it will not start. I
keep getting the message that fsx needs to be configured, and I need to
reinstall the game.
This has been done several times without any success. Can anybody out there
in computer land help me, please.
Thanks in advance,
Ianb

Try uninstalling the game, rebooting and then reinstall the game. It may be
that there are some registry entries that need to be deleted.

Thank you, but I have already tried that. Still no luck.

When you are talking about backing up your old drive and transferring it
to your new drive I assume you have also transferred 'old' data from FSX.
Try to proceed as follows: uninstall as previous and then check if there
are still some remnants of the game in the directory structure. (No idea
what the path is, as I haven't got the game myself, but make a note when
you install the next time). There is the possibility that an ini or cfg
file doesn't get deleted when you un-install the game. Simply delete the
folder and try a re-install.

Some games create a folder in the 'My Documents' folder. Have a look
just in case.
One more try to sort out the matter would be to run a registry cleaner
AFTER uninstalling FSX to look for stray entries.

Thank you for your replies. I had not thought of looking in the 'My
documents' until now. As it happened there was nothing there relating to the
game. I already have a registry cleaner that I have run, but still no good. I
even downloaded the sp1, as suggested, but that did not work.

Thank you for that suggestion. Sad to say, that I still cannot get the flight
simulator to run. Thank you,
Ian
