I have a computer with internet problems. I can ping IP-
adresses on the internet, but unable to ping dns names
like www.microsoft.com or any other. I get my DNS server
from my ISP and these are correct.

Iv'e tried to reset the TCP/IP protocol but no luck. Any
solutions to this?

Yes, I am able to ping the IP adress to the DNS servers
from my ISP.

But, when I run nslookup, I get this message (translated
from norwegian)
Can not find the servername for the adress
148.122.208.99. No respinse from server.

Can not find the servername for the adress 193.212.1.11.
No response from server.

*** Default server is not avaliable.
Servername: Unknown
Adress 148.122.208.99

Can you help me any further?

No need to do that. I use a router, and have about 10
other machines that works perfectly on the internet.

So it has to bee something wrong with this computer.

Thanks for the help anyway....

I am having the same problem on a fresh install of XP Pro
on a clean disk. As I search this newsgroup (for the first
time) with the search argument "DNS", I have found at least
one other posting describing the same problem. I assume
that the solution is simple - maybe changing a registry
setting, but I (and a number of Windows sysadmins here at
work) have been unable to diagnose the problem,
ahd two other colleagues have taken their XP laptops and
done the same dialing technique that I use at home to dial
into work, and their "ipconfig /all" settings are similar
to mine.

I determined my problem was with ZoneAlarm when I disabled
ZA and the problem vanished. I resolved my problem by
changing a setting in ZoneAlarm. I added the IP addresses
of the two DNS servers in the ZA "Trusted Zone", and then
ZA and WXP allowed me to get DNS name resolution.
