Unable to resize partitions

I have my C and D drive on the same physical disk and I want to enlarge C at
the expense of D. The PM wizard is supposed to be able to handle this, but
it seems unwilling to do so - when I click Next after specifying the new
size for C, the confirmation window simply shows me that the new
configuration will be the same as the old one, i.e. no change.

I also tried running Acronis Disk Director and it simply stated that C was
already the maximum size possible.

I suppose an easy workaround would be to shrink D first and then add the
free space to C, but I was hoping I could do this in one step (also hoped
that the product would work as advertised).

I know there are some issues involved with resizing a boot partition but I
did not see anything in the documentation that warned about enlarging the
partition. I am running Win2k/NTFS. Is there a known issue with this?

I would do this in steps and only from a boot disk or cd. You do not want
the batch file with the script for the operations to be on the drive upon
which you're working - and that would be the case if you installed PM to
Windows and ran it from there.

So boot to the PM disks/disc, shrink D and click apply, then enlarge C.
Two separate steps.

There is no issue other than the normal risks. Be sure to back up crucial
data beforehand.

You have to first shrink D [with the free space in front of D, at end of C]
Then enlarge C.

As you correctly state, you must first shrink D to make room for the larger
C. PM won't do both in one step.
