I bought a 80g.b hard drive(WD800JB) from Western Digital
to replace my hard disk. during Installation standard
jumper settings didn't worked so, then I used Alternative
jumper settings 3,4 & 5,6. It worked perfect with Win 98
Se but with Win 2000 server it detects only 33 g.b out of
80. I want to use all of my hard disk capacity.
I appreciate your help regarding this.

Thanks, Srini.G

Hello,

You cannot format a volume larger than 32 GB in size using the FAT32
file system in Windows 2000. The Windows 2000 FastFAT driver can mount
and support volumes larger than 32 GB that use the FAT32 file system
(subject to the other limits), but you cannot create one using the
Format tool. This behavior is by design. If you need to create a volume
larger than 32 GB, use the NTFS file system instead.

I found this and other informatin in knowledge base article:
184006 Limitations of FAT32 File System

....or simply boot off a Win98 DOS floppy and create your
larger FAT32 partitions using Win98's FDISK. Win2K will
recognize and use them correctly, at least subject to the other
size limitations (e.g. >127GB).
