Unable to Receive Fax

HP had me do a non-destructive system recovery which effectively seriously affected my printer as well as fax functions. At this writing I am able to send but can no longer receive faxes. I too get the balloon error message "an error occurred while receiving the fax" and "an attempt to receive a fax has failed". I have gotten no assistance from HP technical support, my DSL provider or anyone else thus far. The program is Microsoft Fax Console 5.1; Can anyone out there HELP ME, PLEASE. Thank you.
