I had a user that left on Friday, so this morning I disabled his account,
and hid him from the Address List. An hour later I found out that they want
his account to get mail, so I un-hid him from the Address List and
re-enabled his account. I'm still getting undeliverables, even though
everything seems to be in order.

Any ideas what I can do to "fix" this? Any advice would be greatly
appreciated.

Doreen,

I had a similar situation a while back where I used to work. We would
remove a user ( who was going to be fired or had just been fired ) from all
of the groups - both security and distribution - and then hide it from the
GAL and then disable the account after changing the password to something
that only I would know...

Anyway, if Joe sent an e-mail to a Distribution Group of which the fired,
ex-employee was a member Joe would get an NDR. This was a bit frustrating.
It has to do with rights. I initially thought that it might be a
replication issue as we had several sites with multiple DCs in each Site and
at least one Exchange Server in each Site. That was clearly not it....

Open up the ADUC MMC and go to that specific users account. NOTE: you need
to be doing this either on the Exchange Server itself or on a DC that has
the ESM installed on it. If you try this on a DC on which you have not
installed the ESM you will not see the necessary tab. Furthermore, you need
to enable the Advanced Features in the MMC. Go to the Exchange Advanced tab
and click on the Mailbox Rights box. Look at the SELF entry. The right in
question is 'Associated External Account'.

HTH,

Cary
