I replaced my motherboard and cpu with a Pentium 4 2.6hz
H/P and Epox 4PGMI 800hz fsb. XP Home would not restart
and announced and apologised that it had shut down to
protects files etc and then said to try in safe mode or
the last current good settings but just recycles through
the boot up system and won't open at all. Obviously it
must have been shocked by the change? We tried to go back
to the previous hardware and re-install and then uninstall
and let xp pick up the new hardware but it didn't. Am I
resigned to a temporary hdd reinstall xp and transfer the
files over or is there something very simple staring me in
the face.
