The message "unable to read System PATH in Registry"
appears when I try to install a program. Is there a way to
fix this, or do I need to reinstall windows 2000 server.
thanks in advance

What is the result if you
echo %path%

Also check that "Path"
found at
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment
is a type Reg_Expand_Sz string and not type Reg_Sz
