HELP ANYBODY!!!! I've just bought a new laptop with Windows XP after my old
pc gave up the ghost. Fortunately most of my files were on CD-R's.
Unfortunately, when I insert a CD into the drive, windows tells me that there
is no data on the CD. This is happening on all my data cd's. I can't believe
that there is no data on more than 40 of them. In fact I know the data is
there because I was constantly using them before my pc died! The data, most
of which are in Word format using windows ME, was burned onto the CD's using
a Hewlett Packard CDwriter plus, 7500. Does anybody know of any reason why
the new pc can't read the files?? Any help would be really appreciated, (in
not too technical language as I'm not very technically minded), as the loss
of these files would result in the loss of yeas of research. Thanks in
advance,
Ian
Music that I burned onto other CD's using the other drive on the old pc work
OK

You may need the packet writing software used to create them.

I have the original installation software disc for the CD-writer. Do you
mean I should ty installing this on the pc?
