Hi Group, i crossposted this message, if this is not the way to ask the same
question in multiple groups than please let me know how to proceed.

Here is my problem:

i have strange behaviour under windows xp professional running service pack
1 and all updates.

I can burn cd an dvd but when i open explorer i cannot see any cdfs on the
discs.
When i use properties for cdr or dvdr drive i see that there is a track but
i am unable to explore the cd.
With windows computer management, disk management, i see info on the cd or
dvd but not the word cdfs in the bar. This was the case some time ago.

I think it has to do with installing and removing some cdrw software but i
am unable to correct this.

I have tried to remove the devices and redetect them but unable to get it to
work again.

Any suggestions?

Kind regards,
Michel

Thanks Barry but this does not solve my problem.

I was able to read using all 3 drives in my winxp home sp1 fully up to date
environment.
Since 2 weeks i could only write and copy
1) asus dvd drive e616
1) hp dvd writer 300i
1) cd rw asus

Strangely it seems that windows is unable to access the discs but cdwriter
programms can burn and copy without any problems.

What i find strange is that windows disk management sees data but does not
recognize this as cdfs and therefor cannot explore the discs.

strangely if i put disks in my drives and reboot it works fine, if no disks
are in the drives after a reboot it cannot read them.

What happens if you log-off then login, without rebooting?
