unable to re-assign mail delivery. unable to delete/close duplic.

After installing Outlook 2003, I have duplicate personal folders. Followed
instructions in help section to close/delete duplicate folder, but unable to
re-assign mail delivery on one account. Program says change accepted, but
when restarted, mail still assigned to account I want to delete.
