Running windows 2000 SP4 updated to 10th Feb 2005.

Think problem started with loading SP4 but cannot be certain.

I can get print previews but when printing get the message "An error occured
during this operation" I can click the OK box but just get dumped out of the
print routine.

If I go to printers I cannot get properties any of the installed printers.

Have tried reinstalling IE6 but this does not appear to have any effect.

Printing from Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 has also stopped at the same time with
the message AcroRD32.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows"

Can anybody help?

Hi David :-)

A couple of things you might try:

Go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>Printers
Click on the printer you are having a problem with and delete it
Then click Add Printer and reselect your printer
Click ok out

See if this will allow you to access your printer. If not, then try the
following:

Unable to Print/Printing problems

also.....

You might also try uninstalling then reinstalling your printer and let the
OS re-configure the device.

Hope this helps

Hi Jan,

Have tried this and installed a new printer driver. The problem applies to
all printers that are showing in the printers folder.

Some further information.

I can happily print from office programmes but if I try to access the
printer properties from the print box I get no response.

It seems as if there is a problem in Windows preventing full access to the
printers.

I truly apologize that I don't have any further suggestions at this point,
other than perhaps you might post this question to the W2K newsgroup,
microsoft.public.win2000.general, and perhaps someone there has had the same
or similar problem and can provide a solution for you. Perhaps someone
else here might also have some information that will help.

I wish you good luck and hope you find a solution soon. :-)

Hi,
I wish I could narrow it down, but... see
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers_8.htm#print

Also, malware can interfere with printing. I would start with BHODemon 2.0
from http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm and would follow that
with CWShredder, Ad-aware, Spybot (in that order.)
