Unable to print a document from windows xp

I have a document that was created in microsoft word for
windows 97, and I can print it from a windows 2000
machine. I am able to bring the document up and edit/save
it on a machine running microsoft windows xp professional
using word 2002, however I am unable to print the document
on the windows xp machine. My machine freezes up and I
have to reboot the system. Any ideas on what could be
causing this problem?
