Unable to play animated GIF in IE

WinXP Pro SP3 with all patches installed, IE8

I am unable to play any animated GIF in IE. For example, all the
animated smileys are static in "http://smileys.smilchat.net/Home.php"
In "Advanced/Internet Options" under "multimedia", "play animations in
webpages" is selected. I think this problem is not caused by IE
settings. It may be systemwise.

Please help, thank you !!!

Try here, but be aware that the tip has been there for at least 6
years, but may still give you some clues.

I tried your link "http://dts-l.com/index.htm" but it redirect me to
"http://members.shaw.ca/dts-l/default.htm". There is no clue to my problem.

Any further advice ?

Why don't my animated gifs animate?

Take note of the mention of firewalls like @Guard as others like Zone
Alarm Pro and NIS may also have a disable option.

You are RIGHT the problem was caused by Zone Alarm.
After reading your reply i shutdown ZA all animated gif's were alive.
