unable to open word 2000 professional

Hope you can help. I have Microsoft Office 2000 installed
on my machine, and for some reason I am suddenly unable to
open any word doc. Although I can use Excel and
Powerpoint. Whenever I open a word file, or the Word
program, the system reads "System low on resources, unable
to open file"

I decided to uninstall the office 2000 package, and
reinstall. This hasn't helped. I have also defraged the
system and deleted all unneccessary files. However I am
sure that it is just the Word program which has a problem.

Look in the Office\Startup folder. If there are any *.dot template files in there,
delete them. This folder is normally empty.
