You need MS Word on your machine to open word.doc file from a site.

Thanks for the response. Purchased Microsoft Office Word 2007 the past year.
Must be a setting on the browser. Now to determine the setting.

Then I would say that the O/S and File Association used by the O/S to start
Word when it see a .doc file type may not be set. I don't think the browser
has anything to do with it.

You might want to post to a forum based on the O/S you're using or to a MS
Office forum, since this is a .NET programmer's forum you're posting too,
dealing with .NET issues.

Try right-clicking the link and choosing "Save Target As...", then save the
Word document locally to your machine. Then right-click the downloaded file
and choose "Open With..." and select Microsoft Word from the list.
