Get error msg that Pers Address Bk could not be opened ,
file either not accessible or is not a Pers Address Bk.
Suggests I choose RETRY or Cancel to use PAB. Either
choice abends outlook. My addresses are in contacts
folder. KB 823758 may be clue to problem but cannot open
Outlook. (823758 says to go to Tools , select address
book, select options, show this address list first, select
contacts, keep personal addresses in box select Pers Addr
bk. click OK.)

Remove the PAB from your Profile. Outlook hasn't used it for years.
Use the Outlook Address Book instead.

How do I remove the PAB from my profile. Remember I can't
open Outlook. I tried going to Outlook properties but that
seems to be a dead end. Where is my Profile and how do I
get to it to change it.

Control Panel > Mail
Make sure you have a Personal Folders File in the profile as well as the
Outlook Address Book Service.
If you set up a profile that has only the PAB but no Outlook Data File...,
Outlook won't run.

.Russ Can you tell me where to find my profile(keeping in
Mind that I am unable to open Outlook). Can I get to it
from opening properties from the outlook icon? I have no
idea where to find the personal folders file or the
Outlook data file?

Tell us what you see when you go to Control Panel > Mail
You should have the option to open and modify profiles with the Show
Profiles... button.

Thanks Russ, here Tis
When I go to mail I get: E-mail accts,Data files, & Show
Profiles. When I select show profiles I get Microsoft
Outlook as a profile. under that I see add,
remove,properties, & copy. If I select properties I see
set up email acct and data files. If I select Data files I
see personal folders C:\outlook.pst and C:\applications.
I hope this is helpful.

So where is this PAB you've been telling us about?
Just create a new profile from scratch. Add your Personal Folders file and
make sure you do not add the PAB.
