When I right-mouse-click a link and select "Open in New Window", the window
opens but just hangs with no text, pics, etc. If I press ESC then Refresh,
the text, pics, etc. appear. Does anyone know a fix? Thanks in advance for
any assistance.

I have the same problem. I did all that, re-registered all DLLs and checked
the registry keys as specified in the KB. The problem still remains.
Additionally, I cannot install Windows updates because the download opens a
new download window, which freezes and does not load anything. Help!

Yahoo Companion can, for some people, stop Ctrl N and 'open in new window'
from working. Uninstall to test.
It has been noted that replacing OLEAUT32.dll will work when all else has
failed. Do that by following using Fix1 or Fix2 below:

Fix 1: Microsoft Office 2000 or an Office 2000 Component Is Installed on
Your Computer
If Office 2000 or or an Office 2000 component is installed on your computer,
obtain and install the Office 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1). For information
about how to do so, please visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/previous/default.htm

Fix 2: Microsoft Office 2000 or an Office 2000 Component Is Not Installed
on Your Computer
If Office 2000 or or an Office 2000 component is not installed on your
computer, obtain and install the Mcrepair.exe tool. To do so, please visit
the following Microsoft Web site, save the Mcrepair.exe file to the desktop,
and then run Mcrepair.exe:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/msninvestor/patch/1.0/win98/en-us/mcrepair.exe

Also, some other programmes that control pop up windows and advertisements
can prevent this facility from working. Disable all third party internet
related programmes and test.

Special note for users of a 'branded' version of IE6 or a customised version
created using IEAK (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ieak/default.asp)

1. Click Start, and then click Run.

2. In the Open box, type: regsvr32 urlmon.dll

Whoa, I had the same problem. I found this site while looking for an answer.
I fixed it tonight, and easily. WinXP sp2. My problem was a BHO (browser
helper object). In IE, go to tools/manage add-ons..... I had an add on in the
list named "req.dat". Highlite this then click "disable". My system was back
to its 100% perfect self. I think this came in with a bunch of adware my
daughter downloaded. I also have a file named req.exe in a system folder
which I have not touched and I won't unless I have too.

Follow-up with the malware removal advice listed here:
http://aumha.org/a/quickfix.php. The quickfix methodology helps in
eliminating most of the malware, but some require user intervention and
examination of the HijackThis log. If that is the case follow step 8. "IF
THERE IS STILL A PROBLEM"

Actually, the advice is that you should remove req.* at all cost!
Perhaps you do not realise this but req.dat is a keyboard trojan and it
hooks into your logon and logoff events. Not trying to scare you but I
do recommend that you should also change your PC password and all your
internet bank passwords immediately AFTER you have deleted these two
culprits (req.dat, req.exe). Oh, BTW, you may have problem removing
req.dat. There are some instructions on the net to remove this.

Good Luck. (and don't forget to check your bank account for suspicious
transactions).
