unable to open graphics from windows 97

Hey here it is, a couple of cowboys are floundering on
the computer,unable to open a document containing
photos. The document appears to be written in windows 97
(?) and gives the error message that our os (windows xp)
is unable to open graphics conversion filter windows
1997. Any thoughts? Free cattle advice in trade for
successful resolution of this problem! Sincerly, Cevey
