Hello,

I have been maintaining a web site in FrontPage 98 for
four years. Today I am trying to open the site files
located on the hard drive of my computer to do standard
maintenance and updates. I am receiving this
message: "There is no server on Port 80 at w6u6y4."

I have made these changes to my system since my last
maintenance session. I have installed a new network card
so that I can make a Ethernet connection from my modum
rather than the USB I was using. I have also configured
my system to use a Linksys 2.4 GHz router. I understand
that routers can be a problem so I have bypassed the
router and have the ethernet connection going directly
from the modum to the network card.

I know that Port 80 is the FrontPage default port, and
that the w6u6y4 is the address of my web. I am wondering
if the "Personal Server" included in FrontPage 98 is where
my problem is. I could really use some answers. I need
to get the maintenance on my site completed.

I'll look forward to a responce.

Thank You,
Pamela Linton

Pamela,
It could be that the PWS bound to a certain IP. Try to open by using
http://localhost/ as that's the default. It could be that the name of the
computer that FP associates is with your machine is no longer valid. You can
also try referring to the IP address, either the one dynamically assigned by
your ISP, or by using http://127.0.0.1 which is the default loopback IP.
Also, make sure that you don't have any firewall software (like zonealarm)
that could be preventing access to port 80.

Hope this helps,

Sometimes, not always, when I have that problem with FP
2000, all I do is go refresh the site and try saving
again. Don't ask me why it fixes this problem, I just
tried it one day and it worked..
