unable to open documents

I cannot get my files in My Documents to open. I
just get a message saying Documents not responding. I
tried reseting back to a date when it was operating
correctly, but this did not work. what do you suggest.
 
What kind of files are they? Will any type of file in it open. Can you copy
a file to another folder + open it?
 
I also have this same problem with any tipe of file, microsoft works , html, wordperfect files, the y wont open when theyre inside of my documents.
If i drag any of these files to the desktop, they work!
