Hi,
On our company Intranet site many documents are posted and available for
everybody (internally) to read.
Now one of the users has created a Powerpiont (PPT) file that contains a
hyperlink (http://.../.../..doc) to a .DOC file. No problem I thought but it
seems it is not possible to open this doc file via this hyperlink. The
message that appears says that Powerpoint is not able to open the specified
file. If I change the link to a PPT file it opens without a problem. HTML
files also open in Internet Explorer.

Now my question, is opening DOC, XLS,... files not possible via a hyperlink
in Powerpoint?? If it is, what am I overlooking here?

Thanks for any help, tips about this subject.

Ben

They work like a charm! A couple of things to keep in mind. If your file
is in "x" folder and your linked document is on "y" folder and you move
either of these files, you can have problems. The easiest way is to make a
copy of the document file in the same folder as your presentation. That way
it will always work. I also find that creating some sort of action button
and assigning an Action Setting to "Hyperlink to", "Other file" also works
much more consistently. You can also use the "Run program" option in the
Action Settings dialog box to open the Word document.

Holler back if this does not make sense!

Still works like a champ. try this:

1. Open the web page with the Word document
2. Click in the Address box and press CTRL-C to copy the address
3. Close the web site
4. Open your presentation and highlight the text you want to assign the
hyperlink to
5. Right-click that highlighted text and click "Hyperlink"
6. Click in the "Address" box towards the bottom and press CTRL-V (to paste
the address in).
7. Click OK and go to Slide Show mode and try it out.
