Unable to open contacts

I have Outlook 2003. I am in process of updating existing contacts. I have
approximately 3960 records. I have come across so far 5 records that I
cannot open. It tells me 'can't open this item'. It won't let me delete
either on these records. Is there any way to fix this?
 
Anything more to the error message? Have you tried repairing your data file
using the Inbox Repair Tool?
