I need help!
Operating system XP Pro
Browser IE 6.0
(plus have added any patches or upgrades already)
Computer purchased last November -- with above software --
no known problems - but then out of the blue, for no
reason I can figure out, (as in nothing new installed,
etc) -- problems began
Honestly not sure if the problem stems from some obsecure
IE6 problem, a WinXP issue, or even Outlook 2002 issue ---
Symptoms --
The symptoms are not universal and only happen with some
web pages - (unfortunatly some pages the error occurs
with I MUST have for work, so I HAVE to find a fix)
*I am at a web page and there is a link page to click to -
I try and click to the linked page but get an error
message that simply says there is a problem and asks "do
I want send a message to Microsoft or not" - no options
to do anything else --- when clicking on this box the
entire browser shuts down (and I obviously never reach
the webpage I attempted to go to)
*In some cases I can type the URL of the link in a new
browser and will be able to go to that page, but in most
other cases, weirdly, I will get a repeat of the earlier
message, asking if I wish to send a message to Microsoft
or not - and when either option is clicked the entire
browser window shuts down and I have no way of reaching
the web page at all
*Also sometimes when an e-mail is received in Outlook
2002 there will be a link in the e-mail, and when trying
to click to this link, the same above referenced error
dialogue box comes up and I am asked "if I want to send a
message to microsoft or not" - and for either selection,
the attempted browser launch is aborted and I can't get
to the referenced link page at all
*Also sometimes when attempting to click on a e-mail link
located on web page I happen to be viewing there is this
same error dialogue box appearing, and the browser
aborts -- sometimes sending my mail and sometimes not,
before the browser crash occurs.
All of these mystery issues began completely out of the
blue a few weeks ago and were not timed around the
occurrance of any software upgrade, or update.
The IE browser, and Outlook work great, without problem
about 97% of the time --- but these weird issues have
cropped up, and as Murphys Law would likely predict, they
are happening consistently when I try and browse, and
view web pages that I MUST view and work from for my
employment.
Frustrated -- I have exhausted all known clues, upgrades,
and resources --- anyone out there with any ideas, or
experiencing the same weirdness, with any clues at all as
to what to do to correct this insanity.
Thank you in advance for any help and insight you can
give me.
