Unable to open attachments

I am unable to open or save any type of attachment (.doc, .pdf, .jpeg or
forwarded email).
I have unchecked the box at Tools/Options/Security/Do not allow attachments
to be saved or opened...........

Any suggestions please?

Please do a search in Windows Mail on the word "attachment". There is fix
listed in the thread from Jill & Ellis.

I am unable to send or receive email. I am using One Care Firewall and I
have enabled Windows Mail to pass through. When I try to send or receive
mail I get the following error:

An unknown error has occurred.

Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x8000FFFF

Can anyone help?

I have done as you suggested and did search in Windows Mail for
"attachment".
Could not find any email from Jill & Ellis.
Could you copy the thread please.

I have deleted Norton Antivirus. and downloaded Avast antivius software FREE

Avast: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

I can now open my attachments in Windows Mail with Vista.
