Unable to open attachment - sometimes

Hi,

When I try to open an excel attachment within Outlook, I click on it and
nothing happens if Excel is open. If Excel is not open and I click on
attachment, Excel opens and there is the file.

I don't necessarily want to save it each time; I want it to open from
Outlook. I'm also not asking about security issues. These are e:mails from
co-workers trying to share work with me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the link. I'd already tried that based on the other letters in
this area. However, I am not an IT person. I did a search on my PC and did
not find "HKEY"-in any folder name. Thus, how does a regular user (not an IT
person) know how to find and clear this folder out?

Read the article? The location is stored in the registry; it's not an
Explorer folder. You can also download the tool from the website which will
give you easy access to the folder as well.

Hi Roady,
I downloaded this and ran it. I chose "clear folder" (for temp files). I
still click on an excel file attachment in my Outlook and it does not open.
It gives me no message. It just doesn't open. Nice feature!

Sorry - I wanted to mention your response. Yes, I did "read the article".
Did you "read my response"? I am not in IT. While I can do tons of
spreadsheet formulas and am pretty quick with the keyboard commands, I
repeat, I am not in IT. I've heard of the "registry" but as an non-IT
professional, I have no idea what that means nor how to change it.

And I am sure that I am by no means the only non-IT professional to use this
service.

Is this behavior limited to Excel attachments or does this happen for .doc
files?
